The cellular infrastructure world is buzzing as LTE (Long Term Evolution) gains momentum to bring wireless customers one step closer to a viable 4G mobile network. According to new research from International Data Corporation (IDC), more than a dozen new networks are poised to go live this year, and spending on LTE will exceed WiMAX equipment spending by the end of 2011. Worldwide LTE infrastructure revenues will fall just below $8 billion by 2014. The Nordic enterprise mobility market will continue to be impacted by the economic downturn, with a number of trends working against the industry, according to a new series of studies from IDC.
IDC EMEA Communications Studies
Due to the financial crisis, IDC expects a slowdown in hardware investments and project delays in Western Europe, which will also impact sales of WLAN equipment. This IDC study examines how vendors are positioning themselves to compete in the enterprise network equipment and unified communications market. Over the past couple of years, fixed broadband access in Europe has reached maturity, with corresponding pressure on growth rates. In this Web conference, IDC analysts discuss the status of and outlook for mobile broadband and Internet access via smart phones. This IDC Update provides an overview of the major events that have taken place in the EMEA fixed-line business telecom market in the past month. This IDC study forecasts vertical market shares of the South African telecommunications services market from 2010 to 2014 and provides IDC's recommendations to telcos and enterprise mobility companies that wish to enter that market. It identifies the verticals with the biggest demand for telecoms services and describes how this technology segment will fare in the aftermath of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This IDC study provides the current and forecast levels of development of the mobile market in South Africa. It also examines opportunities related to the mobile services used in the consumer (individuals) and enterprise (all businesses and government entities) markets.
